Ideology

I personally believe there is no significant dichotomy between LandscapeArchitecture and Architecture in terms of goals or design principles. The pieces are similar, the mental framework very close to the same, and the overall goal of the successful designer, exactly the same. Thus, the ultimate goal of a true designer I believe, is to create an amalgamation of art and design that serve people. Where one discipline is rooted another begins, penetrates, erupts, and merges. Without the proper understanding of this fusion leaves gaping holes in the progress one can achieve in his or her path. Understanding and comprehending Architecture for a LandscapeArchitect is of the utmost importance if true and pure design is ever a goal. The same holds true for an Architect to ascertain the meaning and purpose behind LandscapeArchitecture.  There are several other fields that imprint themselves on these two disciplines and can foster the development of the designer. Yet, these are only tiny constructs to an overall greater agenda of a true Architect or LandscapeArchitect. With this site I hope to shed light, show, and merge these two fields visually while bringing greater appreciation for them as a whole rather then two dichotomous factions. I do not personally feel that an Architect should be able to design the same as a LandscapeArchitect or a LandscapeArchitect as an Architect (All though I think it is possible) but to truly fathom what essence they each hold. Thus, be able to work together in equal appreciation for each others passions and forge a path to a homogenous solution for the people we design for.

Purpose

To construct a visual data base of contemporary LandscapeArchitecture and Architecture designs for students of these disciplines. There are far too many contemporary Architecture websites available compared to contemporary LandscapeArchitecture websites. There is also an overabundance of information displayed in non-coherent fashion to the point one inevitably has to pour out his or her time and energy in a wasteful manner to achieve knowledge. Search upon search only leads to fragments of a whole while consuming energy and leaving only the most slender solutions. This path needs to be streamlined and available to all students of Architecture and LandscapeArchitecture. It is also tangential to the purpose of this site to combine the imagery of LandscapeArchitecture and Architecture so that the subconscious can continue to be stimulated for further progress. I hope to enlighten both disciplines to the beauty I have found from the combination of the two while allowing the continued passion of the user to progress to his or her maximum potential.

Structure

Archlandscapes is structured in two parts; blog and gallery. Each post is of a decided firm which is then placed into the category firms and alphabetized. It is labeled with all pertinent information at the top of the post. This information being link’s to the firms website, specific design, about page, date, name, and location. Tags are then placed under notes and gallery links below that. After the post has been made the images of that specific design are then re-appropiated among the galleries. These galleries consist of a series of images the user can navigate through very quickly, allowing copious amounts of information to be visually accessible in the quickest amount of time. The site is limited to only the utmost important text so that it’s visual integrity can be left intact. In closing, the site is meant to be a virtual book of the most compelling, intriguing, and stimulating designs of Architecture and LandscapeArchitecture.
